About San Diego POV

My daughter calls it my “brain removal.” The doctor said 100% recovery from an unexpected seizure was attainable, but only if I changed my lifestyle.

The prescription? Walking. Lots and lots of it.

Fortunately, I happen to live in one of the most walkable cities out there. So I now aim to hit 3 miles a day. (And yes, I’ve recovered, by the way. Probably somewhere in the 110% territory.)

A Photographic Journal

I’d quickly add that walking simply for the sake of counting steps has the potential to bore me silly. So I’ve layered it a bit:

  • Mix it up by visiting the many cool neighborhoods and sites of San Diego. That suits my explorer instincts.

  • Snap some pics as I go. We’ve each got an appetite for creativity, after all. This feeds it.

  • Listen to tunes on Spotify (while being over-cautious about safety), which offers every tune out there. Great way to add a little audio exploration to the hour.

  • Appreciate the daily break and make it worthwhile. For me, that means use the opportunities to gain perspective, connect with God, and get to know my home town a little better.

Why a website?

I’ve been collecting a ton of photos, sorting out the best, and posting my walks on Facebook, along with some commentary along the way. There has been a good response, and many have suggested that I put them all in one place for broader, interactive access.

This website is the solution.

POV

That’s where the POV — point of view — comes in. Everyone has a perspective they bring to life. Mine includes elements of exploration, pride of place, beauty, novelty, humanity, the sacred, and at least a little sense of humor.
