THE WATERFRONT

 

San Diego’s waterfront has always recognized our dependence on the sea. Over the years, fishing communities of Kumeyaay, Portuguese, Italian, and Chinese origins harvested its plentiful depths. Over the years it has provided for many firsts in aquatic flight, has been home to the West’s primary naval presence, has developed many shoreline miles for resorts and recreation, and much more.

It is also the scenic hub of downtown and the County Administration Building, its imaginative park being dubbed the city’s “front porch.”
