When you’re building one home at a time, you have the luxury of hand-selecting the materials that match your artistic vision, your memories of place, or perhaps your limited budget. Often the interest added by the choice of river rocks over bricks, or shakes over stucco, are merely the happy result of selecting a particular architectural style. Just as often, though, builders here had a range of choices to make.
