If ever there was a need for a big ol’ “They shall beat their swords into plowshares” illustration, this is it.

Built between wars in the 1920s as the West Coast’s primary military academy for recruits, in the 2000s the newly decommissioned Naval Training Center was spared the wrecking ball and converted instead into a massive complex for recreation, restaurants, commercial, arts, history, and residential, all while retaining its its original layout and architectural flavor.
